This bathroom took the backburner to most all other projects and didn't get started until Hez was around 5 months old. Embarassingly, it was once our little "break room" because when we moved in we had no sink to wash dishes or a counter for the microwave and coffee pot. But it started to get a little inconvienent for guests to have to go upstairs to our bathroom and with plans for some overnight visits from grandparents, we knew it was time to tackle it. After a lot of thought, we decided it was going to be well worth our while to leave the tub and have it refinished. This wasn't an option I had ever considered because I had no idea you could refinish fiberglass, I thought only porcelain. Had I known sooner I would have just kept the shower in our bathroom too! But for $300 we hired the job out and are loving our sparkly white tub!
Finally, a tile job where I'm not pregnant! Eli moved the light box and a switch to make room for the new vanity and cabinet, and plastered all the walls.
Done! And with one day to spare before our overnight guests arrived! I wanted the bathroom to be slightly fun since it is Baby's, but not scream kid's bathroom because it is also for guests. The greyscale alphabet curtain gave me exactly the look I wanted.
We still have a small list to finish: one baseboard, paint the bathroom door and cut it shorter so the rug doesn't catch, install the handles on the cabinets (have them), do a little backsplash (also have the tile, just need the grout and the time) and I would like to hang a small shelf above the toilet.

The "hot" and "cold" art above the towel bar. I took these pictures...they are the kitchen faucet! I printed them out on regular paper on the computer because I just wanted to get them up, and I still have not developed the actual photos!
Looking from the closet, here's the view of a jillion doors. The first one is the actual door to our room which leads straight to the stairs (and to the left of it is a window on the other wall), then there's the door to a second little walk in closet (which we use for storage-holiday, camping and whatnot), and then the door to our bathroom. Between these three and the closet doors, the poor room has no wall left!
Eli ripping off wallpaper. We took out the shelf with plans to put in a shelving system (which we have done since this was taken).
Pulling up carpet tacks, and thankfully I had no belly yet or it would have made all this bending over pretty hard!
Did we paint the bedroom bright granny smith apple green? Sadly, yes. We used Sherwin Williams Harmony zero VOC paint, and needless to say were not happy with it. The paint was so thin and took numerous coats to apply, and it was nothing like the paint chip. The color I choose looked a lot more subtle! It did tone down over the next few days as it dried, but it still did not help. Oh man. We moved our stuff in anyways, I didn't have the time or energy to repaint!
Later after Baby was born, I had a chance to repaint. I choose this really soft grey (something from Martha Stewart), but the guy at Home Depot wouldn't let me color match it to the paint I wanted, and we ended up quickly choosing another swatch. Too quickly. In my opinion, it has a lot of purple undertones in it...which was not what I was going for. And I think it's way to dark (the picture looks a lot lighter) for all the doors we have in the room. I think a lighter color would prevent so much attention to all the white doors and make the room seem a lot more open. I need to get better at picking out paint. Repainting is becoming too much of a trend!
We donated the washer & dryer, removed the bi-fold doors and scraped all the linoleum. Shortly after, I painted it. There's no picture of it most likely because I immediately knew the color was sooooo wrong. The color itself was actually pretty, a very bold caribbean blue/teal, but in such a small space with a huge chunk of wall where the stairs are it only emphasized the tinyness. And although on a different wall it could have been really fun and bold...it gave me a swap meet vibe everytime I passed it.

Finally done with the floors, and you can see I finished the kitchen tile around the same time!
The living room now. Pretty much done, although I'll definately add a little more frames or something and I also need to figure out something to put on the ledge. I've ruled out fake ivy and cornicopias, as well as any large ceramic cats. I'm thinking if I could afford a huge piece of art or something it would be really cool, but there's also an air vent it could block. Dunno. I think the room needs a bigger more substantial light fixture too, this one gets kind of lost.

And since I was in a very DIY gifting mood, I took an inexpensive white porcelain bowl and jazzed it up with a Porcelain marker from Michaels after seeing 
Our Christmas-winter table. I already had all the candlesticks and a piece of fabric lying around that was the pefect length for a makeshift runner. The front tree is an old school magazine tree I made and covered in glitter, the feather tree I also made with a $2 cone and $2 feathers from Michaels, and the silver tinsel one in the back was $2.50 in the dollar bins at Target.
We forgoed the traditional "Baby's 1st Christmas" ornaments and went for something that would remind us of his first year, so we found this little giraffe at World Market. Baby seems to have an attraction to giraffes, perhaps because of their easy to grab necks and his Sophie teether is a giraffe. We also went to the zoo and he got to feed the giraffes...so it seemed fitting.
And so we can always remember how tiny his hand was, I used Sculpey clay to cut out the outline of his handprint. This one is definatly my favorite and I may have to find a place to hang it year round!
