21 days! The Bridal Shower!

The Bridal Shower! I had a lovely afternoon at my sister's house, surrounded by family and friends, as we celebrated the upcoming wedding! I received lots of fun things for our house! And I have a ton of pictures thanks to Aunt Jill & Stephanie...here are a few!

...and we're still waiting to receive 37 RSVPs! Final counts on our reservations are due soon and we want to have an accurate count! Please turn them in or call us!

We went shopping last night and got pretty much the last of what we need as far as wedding stuff...now to find a cake topper!

Bridal shower is tomorrow! I'm excited!

My grandpa Henry David Young passed away a little over a year ago now...and as a way to remember him and give back to the community that he loved so much, our family adopted Old River Road from Ming Avenue to White Lane. So Saturday morning at 7AM, we all met together with a prayer and a picture and picked up some trash! Here are the pictures!

The Weather!

The average high for June 21 is 93 degrees, with an average low of 65 degrees. I know it sounds hot...but it will be in the evening and we will have plenty to drink and paper fans for the ladies! Sunset is 8:14PM...it should be a lovely summer evening!

30 days!

It's definately cramming time now, I've got lists after lists of things to be done and all of our reservations must be finalized in two weeks! There's still quite a few RSVP's that have not been returned...mail them as soon as you can please! And although we hate to see "regrets", I really appreciate that you still mail back the RSVP card so we can get an accurate count for seating and such.

We spent the weekend in San Mateo for a "happy birthday" and "goodbye" to Eli's Uncle, Aunt, and niece. We will for sure be saving up to visit you someday!

Yesterday was the last swing dance class! It was definately a lot of fun, although with everything going on, it will be nice to have Wednesdays freed up again.

Stephanie sent out Bridal Shower invitations for Saturday, May 31st to our close family and friends here in town...if you have not received yours through the mail let me know and I will have her fill you in on the details!

Last night was definately proof that every little thing adds up! Mom, Brooke, and I went on a shopping spree to gather details for the wedding. We loaded up the car with (if I can remember everything):

Luckily, us girls are good at finding all the deals! And while we were out shopping, Eli installed the cooler! I came home to unload our buys in a nice cool house!

Today is probably one of the busiest days on Dad & Mom's backyard, there are all sorts of people, deliveries, and projects. Roofing, cement, carpet, and 1500 yards of sod! And we are bar-b-queing steak!

Mother’s Day!

Our first family get-together! We had a total of 30 people from both sides of our family over at our house on Sunday for Mother’s day. Everything turned out great and I loved that our families got to meet each other before the wedding! It is so much fun having such a big family! And to be marrying into one too! Thanks to everybody for coming and bringing all the awesome food, and Henry and Brooke for running to grab more plates!

If anybody that had their camera out wants to send pictures my way…I would love it! I didn’t get a chance to take any! So far I have some of my side of the family from Aunt Jill.

Also, there was a pink envelope with “Mom” and a heart drawn on the front left at our house…it feels like a gift card inside…and we have no idea who left it. So if anybody knows, let me know!

Our new sofa is being delivered tomorrow!!!!!

Eli and I skipped swing dancing class last night as he is under the weather :(

I made a dark chocolate cake with triple chocolate fudge chocolate chip frosting for a little "bridal shower" for one of the girl's at my work who is getting married this Saturday. Soooooo goood I think I will make one for Mother's Day dinner!

It seems like most of our guests have got their invites by now, if not they are on their way! But we have been getting such an awesome response to the look of our invitations and envelopes! The silhouette stamp on the front was Eli's idea!

An excerpt from Mom's e-mail of Tuesday night in the wedding backyard...everybody is working so hard!!
"FYI= We, Dad, Mom, Henry, and Brooke, filled the block cells on the new wall behind the pool last night. We were out there until 10:51. What a work out. I told Brooke and Henry that when you stay here you get a free membership to a gym. 28 bags at 80 lbs a piece. (then add the water to that) Henry mixed, Brooke scooped from the wheel barrow and handed it to me, I passed it down to Dad and he poured in the cells and tamped. The only thing that kept us going was that there was homemade strawberry ice cream waiting for us in the house."

One hour and $20 later...I have completed my veil and am extremely happy I choose the DIY route! RSVP replies are slowly trickling in and our "official RSVP card count" is up to 11! And I may have found some better, cheaper bridesmaid dresses...I've got two different sets being shipped to me, plus we have the original ones we bought, so I can decide if I like one of the new ones better! Hopefully because they are around $20 less than the original!

A little entertainment: I somehow managed to loose grip of a tupperware full of rice and talapia while getting ready to microwave at work. There was rice and fish EVERYWHERE! And of course everybody was there watching as I tried to frantically pick up sticky rice off the carpet. How embarassing.........

Sorry for the lack of updates...

After two weeks of Jury Duty I am officially done and back in my cubicle.

Wedding Planning:

• Our wedding party!
  Bridesmaids: Stephanie (my sister), Callie (his sister), Liz (my friend)
  Groomsmen: Dylan (his brother), Derek (his brother in-law), Henry (my brother)
  Flower Girl: Kaylin (his neice...who also just turned 2!)
• Stephanie, Callie, Eli and I all went shopping for everybody's dress yesterday. I think we found a good one!
• Wedding invitations went out last week so keep an eye on your mailboxes! I've already got 3 of my RSVP cards back!
• I started making my own veil, and it's going suprisingly well! But I'm still only half way there so we shall see!
• The Wedding Backyard is still a work in progress, but moving quickly!

Life:

• We're on our third week of swing dance classes...
• We bought a sofa! Now we're just waiting for it to be delivered!
• Mother's Day is at our house this year...Eli is slow smoking pork shoulder! I sent out invitations to our family last week!
• Henry and Brooke are officially moved back to Bakersfield! Lucky Dad gets some on site help!
