The beginning of...

...another wait.

The bank counter-offered. With the full asking price. We budged, but only slightly, maybe too slightly for them. But we'll find out by next Friday. I would like a house with my husband by our family and then I would just like to live and never buy a house again when this is over.

Grandma's 75th Birthday!

Early this morning around 5am I miscarried the baby. I realize God has a plan for us, but please respect that now is not the time I want to hear it.

8 weeks

We spent last much of last night at Southwest Mercy's Emergency Room after I started bleeding. Since I am only 8 weeks pregnant I could not go to the labor & delivery side of the hospital, but they were able to do an ultrasound to determine the baby was in my uterus and not eptopic. The doctor couldn't see a heartbeat and said it looked more like 6 weeks. After almost 5 hours of waiting, blood tests, IVs, and doctors I was put on 5 day bedrest and ordered to get into my primary doctor as early as possible. They basically could not determine anything of what was going on for certain, but did tell us the possibilities.

We got into Kaiser this afternoon for a formal ultrasound, where I was also told the baby did not look 8 weeks, and still, there was no heartbeat. I got a photocopy of the ultrasound pictures, they are keeping all the originals to watch the growth. I go back every couple days now for blood tests and ultrasounds to insure that my hormone levels are growing at the rapid rate they should be. Next appointment is on Wednesday. They couldn't tell us anything for sure either.

The doctor said the bleeding could stop and I could go on to have a normal pregnancy. That even though by the books I am 8 weeks, the baby could have other ideas in mind and be growing at a slower pace or my body's schedule is a little out of whack and indeed only be 6 weeks. Or the baby isn't growing right and I am miscarrying.

We are incredibly scared and in the dark right now, I am trying my best to stay calm and rest as we wait this out. I am not up for any phone calls as I will probably turn into an emotional wreck talking about all this, but we could use a lot of prayers...this baby already means the world to us.

Best moment this week: We bought a bunch of onsies and browsed strollers!

Food cravings: Nope.

What I miss: Coffee still!

What I am looking forward to: The first ultrasound, and the stroller to be in stock!

What baby is doing: Baby has it's first signs of brain waves, and fingers and toes are getting longer! By the end of this week it will be around half an inch long!

Sleep: I am definitely more tired!
Best moment this week: The first visit with my doctor! Everything looks good and we get our first ultrasound on January 29th! And she confirmed our due date of August 29th!
Minor details: I pee every like every 20 minutes!
Gender: We don’t know yet!
What I miss: Coffee!
What I am looking forward to: Cleaning out what will be the nursery and the first ultrasound!
Milestones: I haven’t thrown up yet!
What baby is doing: Baby has a heartbeat and is growing eyes and a nose and is the size of a watermelon seed!

The New Year!

Elijah and I went to baby Orientation. Needless to say, I could have done with skipping it! It was basically a run down on everything that could go wrong with our baby and all of the testing and screenings Kaiser offers, nearly all of which I plan to forgo. But tomorrow is the first real appointment with my Doctor! I don't know how fun it will be or if I will get an ultrasound or not.

We spent New Years at home, joined by Steph, eating some chips and dip and watching movies (or falling asleep to movies!). Elijah woke us up to watch the ball drop and drink some sparkling cider...and then I was back to bed!

As a Christmas present to each other, we spent the New Year's weekend in Solvang. I made Ebelskiver (Danish round pancakes) with my new pan Saturday morning and ate with good friends and we all went to Solvang together and enjoyed the tourist shops, Danish treats and a motorcycle museum! I was very worn out by the afternoon when we said goodbye to our friends and indulged in a nap at the hotel before we drove to Pismo for some awesome Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl. The next day we had breakfast in Solvang and bought an Advent Candle and a little baby hat, then decided to head home (I had been feeling naseus and exhausted). All in all, a very fun weekend away from our busy life! I don't have many pictures besides the ones from the motorcycle museum.

Oh, and I bought new jeans this weekend...and decided to grab a 6 and a smaller fitting 8. I usually wear a 4-6 but figured bigger sizes would last quite a big longer as I grow in the next few months. Crazy. I just sort of realized that most of my clothes will not fit in a few months!!

Great Grandma is home from the hospital! At her own home! And when my grandparents go back home to Wyoming she will have a lady staying with her for 24 hour care, helping her with anything she needs. She is a stubborn grandma and I know this will be hard for her as she hasn't had the best experience with in-home care when my great Grandpa needed it...but I am praying she will see this is a lot better than having to go somewhere else for care!

The word is out!

We're expecting a baby!!!

We found out on Thursday, December 18th, and it took me more than one test to believe it! Can a pink line be any more faint? I wanted it to be yes, but I also didn't want to get excited and find out it's nothing! Thank goodness for Rite-Aid and digital home pregnancy tests! From our reading, it looks like our due date is late August and I am 5 weeks along! Seems like a long ways to go but I imagine it will go fast as there is a lot to get ready for!

On Saturday we told Elijah's Mom and Callie that morning, then told my parents and Henry! Everybody is quite excited and this is the baby that will turn my parents into Grandparents! Dad already has the crib and cradle he built when I was born out of the boxes and assembled! I am so excited to get to use such special pieces of furniture for our own baby! We planned to tell everybody else on Christmas Day (not an easy thing to do when you are excited!). Saturday, Great Grandma was taken to the ER and as soon as we found out on Sunday, Elijah and I drove down to see her and told her the exciting news that she was going to be a "Great Great Grandma"! She was very happy as she has been crocheting hats and booties for some time now to have for all the great grandkids when they started a family. From updates, Grandma is doing okay, she is still currently in the hospital after undergoing surgery to remove cancer in her colon. The doctor is happy with how everything went, so we are praying for a comfortable and speedy recovery!

At Christmas with Elijah's family, we had Kaylin spill our "secret" and of course everybody is excited! Next to hear the news was Elijah's Grandma and Grandpa! Then to my side of the family! That didn't go quite as planned...as our "creative" way of giving the current baby in the family (Annie) a picture of the pregnancy test took quite a while for anybody to notice! They all just thought she was keeping busy with a piece of paper trash! But when she eventually ditched the picture and Justin finally picked it up off the ground, he questioned Jennifer to see what it was all about...who IMMEDIATELY figured out that we were having a baby, and she definatly gets the most outwardly excited award! Friday we had my Mom's side of the family out to our house...and it was convienently the first day I have felt like crap and decided to lay down for an hour in the middle of cleaning, and conviently the entire family (sans my parents with the food) knocked on the door about an hour and a half early than I anticipated! Thank goodness I had a half decent excuse for a half clean house!
